Research Use Only (RUO) is a regulatory designation indicating that a material is intended solely for laboratory research. RUO materials are not manufactured, labeled, or sold for human or animal use of any kind.
For suppliers, the designation carries real obligations: RUO products must not be marketed with claims of therapeutic benefit, dosing guidance, or any suggestion of human application. Product information is limited to the material's chemical identity, specifications, and analytical documentation.
For research customers, RUO materials support in-vitro and laboratory investigation. They are not drugs, supplements, or cosmetics, and they may not be diverted to any use outside the laboratory.
